Chuvadi Fest is held annually, usually in the last week of December.
Description:The Chavittu Natakam a Christian classical art form is supposed to have originated in Gothuruth. The Chuvadi fest is organised to revive this art form in all its glory. The festival lasts five days.
Chavittu Natakam is usually enactments of stories based on the Christian Characters of early or medieval ages. Characters wear colourful costumes representing that period which could be the result of Portuguese influence. It is a mixture of music, dance and drama with a unique style of presentation.
Various Chavittu Natakam groups from Thrissur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha participate in the Chuvadi fest. There are subtle differences in the styles based on region.
Seminars and workshops are also conducted as a part of the Chuvadi Fest.
