Schedule and Timing:
The IFFK is usually held in the month of December.
Description:The IFFK organised by the Kerala Chalachitra Academy is held at Trivandrum. The opening and closing ceremonies of the festival will be held at Nishagandhi auditorium. The screening of films will be held in a dozen other venues as well.
A total of 488 screenings of 164 films will be held. On the first day 34 films including the Turkish film 'The Announcement' will be screened.
14 Malayalam films have been selected for screening for IFFK 2018 instead of 7 in the iFFK 2017.
Iranian Director Majid Majidi will be given life time achievement awards for his contributions to the IFFK as well as World Cinema.
The following awards are given.
- Suwarna Chakoram for the Best Film - Award and cash prize of Rs 15 Lakhs to be shared by the director and the producer.
- Rajatha Chakoram for the Best Director - Award and cash prize of Rs 4 lakhs to the best director.
- Rajatha Chakoram for the Best Debut Director - Cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs.
- Audience Prize Rajata Chakoram - Cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs.
- Fipresci Award: Best International Film
- Fipresci Award: Best Malayalam Film
- Netpac Award: Best Asian Film
- Netpac Award: Best Malayalam Film
About 13000 delegate passes are issued every year. Students get passes at discounted rates.
The 2018 IFFK is being conducted without any funds from the state government on account of the Kerala Floods and hence the delegate pass charges are steeply increased from Rs 500 to Rs 2000.
The 2018 edition is the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala.
Tickets / Registration:IFFK 2018 Delegate registration: The offline issue of delegate passes have begun for IFFK 2018 at the five region centres of the Chalachitra academy at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur. Online registration also available. IFFK delefare registration fee is Rs 2000. Students get passes at Rs 1000. Kerala Chalachitra Academy contact numbers are 0471 2310323, 2312214 and 4100300.
