Two of the vibrant minds in Kerala Prof. C. Ravichandran and K. Venu debating over the supremacy of science as a source of wisdom. The debates over empiricism versus rationalism is nothing new. However when two left oriented free thinkers who share a common cultural background debate, it is sure to generate interest.
Sri. Sajeevan Anthikad will be the moderator and Sri. Muhammed Nazeer will do the introductory talk.
Essense, the rationalists club is organising the program.
Prof C. Ravichadran Bio
Born in Kottarakkara in Kollam District, C. Ravichandran studied at St.Jude School Mukhathala and S. N. College Kollam. He also has multiple post graduate degrees in various subjects including English, History, Sociology, Economics, Politics, Philosophy and Public Administration from Kerala University. He has served in the Kerala Public Service Commission office for 11 years. Presently working as a professor of English at Kerala University College, Thiruvananthapuram, Ravichandran is an atheist and a renowned freethinker. He has also authored several books and is an avid debater.
K Venu Bio
K Venugopal aka K Venu is a communist thinker once in the forefront of the Naxalite movement in India. Sri. Venu majored in Zoology before becoming a full time comrade. Later Venu joined mainstream politics for a while and contested in the UDF ticket in 1996 legislative assembly elections which he failed to win. Since then he left party politics but continued to be a social activist and speaker. Venu has written in several publications and also authored several books, the latest published one being a Darwin encyclopedia to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Charles Darwin. Currently living at Olarikkara in Thrissur.
