The Kerala School Kalolsavam for the academic year 2019 will be held at Alappuzha. The EMS Stadium, Alappuzha is the main venue. The State Youth Festival will be cut short to three days in the context of the flood and the ongoing relief and rebuilding work in Kerala.
Director of Public Education Sri. Mohan Kumar IAS will do the flag hoisting in front of the organising committee office at the Govt Model Girls School at 8.30 am on 7th Dec. The competitions in the 59th State School Kalotsavam will begin by 9 am.
Apart from the main venue, the competitions will be held in halls instead of the usual grand pandals except at Leo 13th School and Lajanathul Muhammadiya School where there is no sufficient auditorium facility.
About 10,000 students will participate in 188 events. There is no overhaul winners trophy this year.
The School Kalotsavam this year will be held without the usual flamboyance. There won't be inaugural or closing ceremonies or grand stages for this year's Kerala school festival. There will not be any cash prize for the winners either.
The non-performing items will be held at district level only. The first prize winners with A grade in the district level competition will be valued at the state level for determining the state level prizes.
The district-level school festivals need to be held between 12th to 24th November.
The teachers association KSTA is providing the food provisions while a team under Pazhayidam Mohanan Namboothiri will prepare the sadya as a free service.
Previous academic years state youth festival (2018) was held at Thrissur.
