The Kolkata book fair starts from the last week of January and usually lasts 12 days .
Description:The IKBF or the International Kolkata Book Fair started with a group of young publishers deciding to conduct a fair for book lovers. This in turn they hoped will give a shot in the arm for the publishing industry.
That was in 1974. The efforts culminated in the first Kolkata Book Fair in 1976 with 56 stalls and 34 publishers.
The book fair grew by leaps and bounds to become one of the largest international book exhibition events in the country. A theme country is also selected each year.
The Kolkata Literature Festival KLF is held along with the IKBF.
