The Modhera Dance Festival is held in the 3rd weekend of January and after the Uttarayan festival which is 14th January, usually from Friday to Sunday.
Description:The Modhera Dance Festival is held in the backdrop of the magnificent Modhera Sun Temple and is an exuberant celebration of dance, music and art. The enigmatic architecture of the Sun Temple adds to the elegance to the performances.
The Sun moves to the north or the uttarardh after the Uttarayan festival day which marks the beginning of the end of winter and longer days.
Modhera is located in the Mehsana district also called Mahesana district of Gujarat and is about hundred km northwest of Ahmedabad.
The Modhera Dance Festival is among the premier dance festivals in the country. It attracts dance and art lovers from all over the country and also foreign tourists. The event is now organised by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat.
