Description:

Ponmudi is the highest altitude site among the ecotourism destinations in Thiruvananthapuram DIstrict. It has a nice cool weather throughout the year. The mist covered hills are quite attractive.

From the Kallar begins the forest region. There are 22 hairpins to be covered before reaching the Ponmudi which is at height of 610 meters from the sea level. There are many streams and rivers on the way to Ponmudi. The Peppara dam and wildlife sanctuary are on the way to Ponmudi.

Tourist attractions are Ecopint and Golden Valley along with deep forest, meadows, tea plantations and misty highlands. A Two-kilometer walk can take to the Topstation where cool breeze and mist awaits the visitors.

The place got its name from the Kanikkar tribals who believed this as the place where the Gods kept their gold (ponnu).

How to reach Ponmudi

Ponmudi is about 60 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. From Thiruvananthapuram, take Nedumangad, Vithura, Kallar route to Ponmudi.
