Every year Thrissur Pulikali is held on the fourth day starting from the Thiruvonam day from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.
Description:Thrissur Pulikai 2018 has been cancelled on account of the flood disaster in Kerala.
Thrissur Pulikali is a colourful visual treat accompanied with characteristic rhythmic beats using traditional percussions. Hundreds of men paint their whole body in various designs resembling a tiger. This with a matching tiger mask and you will see virtually tigers dancing on two legs. In 2017 there were a few female tigers as well.
Hundreds of such tigers representing about 10 to 15 different desomsĀ (localities) will dance their way on to the Swaraj Round. Each team will be accompanied by huge floats which are again a feast for eyes.
Each team encircle the Swaraj round which is 1.6 km in which there are several judging points, the main judging point being Nadivilal.
