Trinetreshwar Mahadev Mela or the Tarnetar Mela is celebrated every year from the Bhadarva Sud 4 till Bhadarva Sud 6th as per the Hindu calendar.
Description:The Tarnetar Mela carries the legend of the Draupadi Swayamvar by Arjuna. The mela or the fair is held at the Trinetreshwar Mahadev temple. The Kund or the temple reservoir is believed by the locals as the place where once the Ganges flowed and hence a dip here is removes all sins.
It is an occasion where tribal men and women seeking partners. Dressed up in colourful ethnic dresses and dancing to the tune of traditional drums, it is a celebration of folk dance, music and colourful costumes. Married men and women also participate, however, the marital status is distinguishable by the dresses worn. Men use colourful embroidered umbrellas, and handkerchiefs to attract the lady of their choice.
During the fair which lasts three days, the whole village of Tarnetar will be filled with stalls that sell handcrafted ornaments and other fine products. Merry go rounds and other entertainments will be present in the carnival.
A rural Olympics of sorts will be held in which people participate in various events like the horse race and bullock cart race.
