About Tyagaraja

Tyagaraja was a legendary music composer considered by many as a saint. Though having Telugu ancestral roots, Tyagaraja lived in the Thanjavur region between 1767 to 1847. He was an ardent devotee of Rama. He attained mukti on the Pushya Bahula Panchami day and this day is celebrated as the Tyagaraja Aradhana Uthsavam by his devotees. Among his many compositions, the Pancharatna kritis are the most famous and is often sung as a tribute to him.
