Ashwathi Mahotsavam Day
The Kootta Ezhunnullippu is held on the Uthrattathi and Revathi days which are the 8th and 9th days of the Thiruvulsavam, which are also the two days preceding the Ashwathi Mahotsavam. These days the Devis of the nearby temples join the Valiyakulangara Devi in a joint procession.
The Kettukazhcha is held on the Ashwathi asterisk where the 4 Karas, Vadakkekara, Thekkekara, Puthukkundam and Erikkavu arrive at the temple with their Kettukazhchas.
Before this the Vayalil Kazhcha ceremony is held at Pappaddichalil at the east of the temple . This is a ceremony where the Kettukazhcha Kuthirakal from different parts is presented for display. Thousands of people will come to witness this festive ceremony.
Each Ketukazhcha will be accompanied by Melam and the Karakkar, the people of the respective locality. After the Kettukkazhcha, horses will be taken to the temple in a procession.
