Description:St. Alphonsa or Alphonsamma as she is popularly called, is the first Indian Women to be canonised as a Saint in the Catholic Church.
St. Alphonsa Pilgrim Centre is located close to the St. Mary's Forane Church. The present St.Alphonsa tomb is located in the erstwhile cemetery chapel of the St. Mary's church. This cemetery chapel was later converted to Shrine Church.
St.Alphonsa's body was the first to be cremated inside the chapel.
St.Alphonsa Museum
Close to the Shrine is St. Alphonsa Museum. Many objects blessed by her divine touch is kept in the museum as well as testimonials of hundreds of devotees.
An audio-visual presentation of the life of Alphonsamma is also screened at a gallery close by, which is also a part of the museum.
FCC Convent Bharananganam
The Franciscan Clarist Convent where Alphonsamma lived was founded in the year 1910. It is at a walkable distance from the Shrine Church. The room where Alphonsamma lived is preserved as such along with other material things used by the Saint.
Mass in various languages

From Kottayam, head southwards to Palai which is 30 km from Kottayam. Bharananganam is 5 km east of Palai town.
