The Arattu at Cherthala Karthyayani Devi Temple is on the Makayiram asterisk in the month of Meenam. The festival lasts 8 days.

Description:

The Cherthala Pooram at the Karthyayani Devi Temple is a major festival of the region and attracts a large number of people. It also has the custom of having the flag hoisting ceremony a couple of days after the festivities have actually begun.

The Karthyayani Devi is also called Mangalya Dayani, a Goddess that is believed to give blessings for marriage and prosperity thereafter.

Arattu is held twice a day on all days of the festival. Thalapoli is held on the two days before the flag hoisting ceremony of the festival.
