Schedule and Timing:

Chembai Sangeetholsavam at Guruvayur is held annually in the Months of November/December. The last day of the Chembai festival being the Ekadasi Day.

Description:

Guruvayur Chembai Sangeetholsavam conducted by the Guruvayur Devaswom Board is a celebration of Carnatic Music with the participation of thousands of musicians ranging from legends to novices.

The festival lasts for about two weeks culminating on the Guruvayur Ekadasi Day. On the final day, the musicians sing Chembai kritikal as well as Pancharatna kritis of Thyagaraja.

The Sangeetholsavam was started by Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar himself, inviting all those interested in Carnatic music to participate. However after his death in 1974, the Guruvayur Devaswom Board continued the legacy and named the music festival as Chembai Sangeetholsavam.

Tickets / Registration:

Application for participating in the Chembai Sangeetholsavam Guruvayur - Participating in the festival requires an application form to be submitted which will be made available at the Guruvayur Devaswom office and also at the website www.Guruvayurdevaswom.Nic.In. The application is usually available by August 1st week till 3rd week of August. The completed forms should reach the Devaswom office by August end. Please check the Devaswom website for the exact dates.
