The flag hoisting of the Puthuppally Perunnal is held on the 28th of April. The main feast days are 6th and 7th of May,
Description:The feast at St. George Orthodox Church located in Puthuppally in Kottayam district begins with the flag hoisting ceremony that will be held 10 days before the festival.
From the flag hosting day, percussions, and evening prayers will be held on all days.
Vechoottu or feeding the devotees and Nercha Vilambu are important programs. A grand procession known as the Raza is held on the main festival day accompanied with decorated umbrellas and Band Melam.
The Highlights of the festiival are
- Virakideel - The firewood are brought for the Vechoottu, Adya choroonu and Nercha Vilampu.
- Vechoottu - Devoteed are fed with appam and chicken curry.
- Deepakazhcha - The paddy fields on front of the church are floated with wick lamps on 7th May.
- Raza - The ceremonial procession with the golden cross.
