Sabarimala Mandala Kalam
Sabarimala Mandala Kalam spans 41 days beginning on the 1st of Vrischikam and ending on the 11th of Dhanu as per the Malayalam calendar. This generally falls on the Mid November to December end. In 2018 Mandala Kalam is from 16th November 2018 to 26th December 2018.
Mandala Pooja Mahotsavam at Sabarimala Temple is the 42 day period that includes the Mandala Kalam and the Mandala Pooja which is on Dhanu 12, the day following the 41 days Mandala Kalam. In 2018 Mandala Pooja Mahotsavam is on 27th December 2018.
Makara Vilakku Mahotsavam starts 3 days after Mandala Pooja and lasts 3 weeks. In 2018, this is from 30th December, 2018 to 20th of January 2019.
Makara Vilakku or the Makara Jyothi is on the 1st of Makaram as per the Malayalam calendar which falls in mid-January. In 2019 Makara Vilakku is on the 14th of January.

Description:The Sabarimala temple is located in the dense pristine forests of Western Ghats. The Annual pilgrim season begins with the Mandala Kala Season which commences usually in the months of Movember followed by Makaravilakku season during January.
During the Mandala Pooja period, the Sabarimala temple will remain open for 42 days continuously. The temple can be accessed via several routes with Pampa serving as the main halting point. Situated amid verdant forests and grasslands, the Sabarimala temple is visited by millions of devotees each year.
