Pakkil Samkrama Vannibham and the legend

The Pakkil Sankrama Vannibham is held from 1st of Karkitakam at the Sree Dharma Sastha Temple at Pakkil. The legend is that Pakkanar, one among the Parayi Petta Panthirukulam was the person who started the Prathishta at this temple. The Pakkanar and his descendants are believed to have stayed there and done the trading on household items. The Pakkil Samkrama Vannibham is thus closely associated with the rituals of the temple.

The products sold here are similar to the Samkranthi Vannibham and includes traditional household items, sickle, spade, bowls, cheena chatty, dosa chatty, bamboo baskets etc. The Pakkil Vannibham is held at the Sree Dharma Sastha Temple maidan and lasts several weeks.
