Description:

Agrasen Ki Baoli is a 14th-century relic right at the heart of the Modern City of New Delhi at Connaught Place.

The primary motive of this mainly underground structure was to be a cool relief for people in the scorching summer heat of Delhi. There was a well beneath with a length of 60 metre and a width of 15 meters which would the cool the ambience. The surrounding structure is also designed for that purpose. This has 108 steps.

The legend says it was built by a Maharaja Agrasen during the Mahabharata period. However, the present structure is considered to be built by the Agrawal community in the 14th century.

The site is now a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
