Jantar Mantar Delhi is open on all days of the week from Sunrise to Sunset.
Description:Built in the 1700s by the founder of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh 2, this observatory was originally called Yantra Mantra. Meaning instruments and formulae. It is these Yantras that makes up the five most prominent landmarks within a landscaped garden.
The central building, Samrat Yantra, is a giant quadrangular slab of rubble masonry with a height of 20 metres. The other two yantras, consisting of circular buildings (Ram) and complementary hemispheres (Jai Prakash) arouse curiosity.
Misra Yantra, the most picturesque structure, is the closest to the entrance. A mix of four instruments, it has a ‘peepal leaf look’ and is conveniently spacious for group photo shoots.
The closest metro stop is Patel Chowk.
Tickets / Registration:Jantar Mantar Delhi Entry fee is Rs 25. Videography incurs an additional fee.
