Chinakkathoor Pooram is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Kumbham which generally falls on the month of March.
Description:Chinakkathoor Pooram offers you an opportunity to witness a visual fiesta. This festival of colours and tuskers is held annually at the Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathy Temple, Palappuram in North Kerala. The highlight is the grand procession of about 30 caparisoned elephants along with the traditional percussion.
Panchavadyam - the traditional orchestra - and various art forms like Vellattu, Theyyam, Poothanum Thirayum, Kuthiravela, Aandi Vedan, Karivala and so on add variety to the festival.
Tholpavakothu, a ritualistic shadow puppetry is another attraction.
