Description:

Nenmara Vallangi Vela also called the Nenmara vela is probably the most elaborate of the local harvest festivals within Kerala. The two constituent Desoms of Nenmara and Vallangi engage in a friendly rivalry to make the vela an exciting festival experience.

The highlights of the festival are

  • Folk art performances of Kummatti, Karivela and Andivela
  • Elephant pageantry with some of the tallest elephants present in Kerala.
  • Grand Illuminated Pandals.
  • Melam led by some of the top exponents.
  • Fireworks

As the procession from each Desom reaches the temple, Panchavadyam or the traditional percussion is performed with great zest.
