Kalpathi Ratholsavam is annually held on the 28th to 30th in the Thulam month of the Malayalam Calander. This usually falls in the month of November.
Description:Kalpathi Ratholsavam is a part of the 10 days long festival at the Sri Visalakshi Sametha Sri Viswanatha Swamy temple, Kaplathy on the banks of the Kalpathi River.
The first four days of the festival will have Vedic recitals and cultural events. On the fifth day, the ceremonies for the Ratholsavam will begin. The carting of Chariots (Ratham) is on the 7th to 9th days (3 days) of the festival.
Devaratha Sangamam is on the third day of the Ratholsavam. A large number of devotees gather to pull the Chariots on these days. The festival ritual ends on the day following the Ratholsavam.
The temple here is believed to be present from the 15th century. Laxmi Narayana Perumal and Manthakkara Mahaganapati temples also participate in the Ratholsavam ritual.
Kalpathi village is one of the earliest Tamil Brahmin settlements in Kerala.
