Kanjiramattom Nercha is an annual ritual and is celebrated on the 13th to 14th of January every year.

Description:

Kanjiramattom Nercha or Chandanakudam Urus is an annual pilgrimage and festival at Kanjiramattom Mosque, about 25 km south-east of Kochi. The main event being the possession of pilgrims who carry earthen pots covered with sandal paste called 'Chandanakkudam'. The procession moves towards the mosque. It is celebrated at night accompanied by caparisoned elephants.

This annual ritual also called Kanjiramattom Kodikuthu is in memorial of Sheikh Fariddudin.

Traditional Muslim art forms likeĀ  Duffmuttu and Kolkali adds colour and splendour to the festival. The Kanjiramattom Mosque will be illuminated during this festival. This festival is also an inclusive event with other community members also joining the celebrations.
