Description:

The Mewar Festival is celebrated at the onset of spring. It celebrates the rich traditions of the Rajput culture. The whole of Udaipur will be decorated and brightly lit during the Mewar Festival. The three day festival has a cultural as well as religious dimensions.

The dates coincide with the Gangaur Festival which adds a religious dimension to the festivities. The decorated idols of Lord Siva (Isar and Parvati (Gangaur) are taken out by women in a procession. The women dressed in brightly coloured dresses sing and dance as they take the idols near to Lake Pichola, take them in a boat in Lake Pichola and then immerse in the lake.
